About Us
The Douglas County Conservation District was formed by farmers and landowners at referendum held on August 17-20, 1945. Most farmers believed that a soil conservation district would be of great help in solving the serious erosion problems of the county.
Our Mission
To provide leadership and assistance in promoting individual responsibility for the conservation of Douglas County natural resources.
Our Goals:
- Provide financial assistance to landowners through the allocation and distribution of state water resource and non-point source funds.
- Provide no-cost technical and planning assistance to landowners of Douglas County for the implementation and construction of conservation practices.
- Provide conservation education to residents of all ages living in Douglas County.
- Assist the National Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) with office workload and conservation projects.
